Whilst Livingstone International University teaches from an overtly Christian basis the founders were also keen to embrace and celebrate traditional beliefs and cultures.  The Cultural Gala gives students an opportunity to share their different cultures through food, dance, music and food.  Sarah, above, one of our sponsored students shared a Teso dance whilst Peace and Esther below, took part of the Bagisu celebration.

The 21 pupils from Jackie School who passed their PLE exams will all be starting secondary school this month.  This is the first time that a whole cohort has transitioned and its down to the hard work of Milton and the head teacher in persuading pupils and parents that there will be a benefit for the young people by continuing in education. Each pupil has received 100,000ugx   (£21) to help with the cost of their uniform.  15 of the pupils are joining Mulatsi School , the nearest government run school – which has low fees but is apparently overcrowded – and six will go to other schools.

. Milton says he expects that “some will drop out due to their circumstances, some parents will fail to pay future fees and some girls will be taken by the world (that’s to say they will marry) but at least a few may finish.  In Uganda primary is the foundation and Jackie School through 3H has set them on the right path.”  The P7 cadre for this year is smaller with 18 pupils and of these only 10-12 are likely to sit their PLE exams this year.
